After waiting for nearly everything else to get done I'm ready to get my tractor. I found a 4700 HST R1's DSCV for 21,400. A 460 Loader is already attached for 3,800.Seemed like the perfect tractor for me until I found out the 4000 TEN tractors are due out next month. Now I'm torn I've waited a couple of years to get this tractor a couple of months won't hurt. However this tractor is just sitting there ready to be picked up form the dealer. I was thinking it should have most of the kinks worked out. ie new front axle, new dash and all that.Things are right for me to buy now but I would hate to get this and in another month be drooling over the inhancements.What you guys think?

I drooled over a new tractor for several years also, so I know what it is like to be already to go especially when there is one sitting right there waiting to be taken home. But, in your case I think I would wait for the next series to hit the market. I am sure there are more people who haven't had any problems with the model tractor your are looking at than there are people who did. The big unknown is how much better are the next generation tractors. I think I would wait if there is not a big difference in price.

David, you are in one real good position right now. I think I'd just sit back and enjoy things as that dealer works real hard to sell you a tractor. About the worst thing that could happen is that you could end up saving money on the 4000 if you didn't like the 4010s. In the past, JD has always had sales on the older series at reduced prices when new models came out. Its a good bet that it will happen again. And these sales can go one for some time. It wasn't too long ago that there were still some pre-4000 series tractors for sale at some JD dealers. ....

I just talked to a JD dealer that came from a show and he said that he didn't expect to see the new series until late spring. He did say that he also didn't expect the price to change. There were some interesting comments on the new changes. I too am waiting to see what is on the horizon... How about a switch to change the HST peddles response... interesting... ....

You can bet JD won't have the 10 series out till late. with all the changes in electrics and component mfgrs. I wouldn't want to be the first one to have a new model. look at all the hydro & f.e. problems w/the original 4000's. But if techno gizmos make you horny, wait and go for it. Maybe the first ones will be sold on e-bay for a crazy amount!! just like the X-5 Beemers!!!. Myself. I'll stick to Orange. thousands of hours, no problems. Where is their sub-compact??
Imagine the value of their overpriced 400 series L&G tractors if the sub is priced competitive to the BX. ....
